Elena Bonometti has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Elena most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Tostan, where they led the organization's mission to empower African communities for sustainable development. Prior to that, they were the Interim Chief Operations Officer at Tostan.
Before joining Tostan, Bonometti worked as the Director of Programme Operations, Kenya at Marie Stopes International. In this role, they expanded Kenya's largest specialty not-for-profit social enterprise for developing sexual and reproductive health programs. Bonometti's earlier experiences include working as a Program Officer at the Italian Embassy in Burkina Faso, a Program Officer at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, a Research Assistant at Medecins du Monde, and a Program Officer at the French Embassy in Lomé.

Elena Bonometti holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Government from the Università degli Studi di Trieste, which they obtained from 1999 to 2002. Elena then pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree at Sciences Po from 2002 to 2004. Afterwards, Elena attended Georgetown University McDonough School of Business and Esade from 2012 to 2013, where they earned a Global Executive Master of Business Administration degree, jointly offered by Georgetown-ESADE.
