Vasileios Mitrakos has a long and varied work experience. In 2011 and 2012, they were a Research Staff at the National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos". In 2013, they were an MSc Researcher at Heriot-Watt University and The University of Edinburgh. In 2014, they became a PhD Researcher at the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University, conducting research on novel wireless e-skin tactile sensors and autonomous capsule manometry diagnostic devices for continuous monitoring of the motility of the small intestine. In 2018, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Heriot-Watt University, researching novel point-of-care screen-printed electrochemical sensor devices for monitoring antimicrobial resistance and pollutants. Currently, they are a Vice President of Electronic Skin and Senior Electronic Skin Engineer at Touchlab Limited, where they are working on giving machines a human sense of touch.
Vasileios Mitrakos obtained a BSc in Physics from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2011. Vasileios then went on to pursue a MSc by Research (MRes) in Electrical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University in 2013. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Electrical Engineering from The University of Edinburgh & Heriot Watt University (ERPE) in 2018.
