Duncan Hay has over 15 years of experience in various roles related to geoscience, data science, and technology.

Starting from 2007, Duncan worked as a Fixed-Term Lecturer in Earth Science at the University of Glasgow, where they taught multiple geology courses and supervised student projects.

In 2009, Duncan joined the Alberta Geological Survey as a Mapping Geoscientist, where they played a key role in digitally remapping the province of Alberta for resource estimates. Duncan also worked as a Project Lead Geoscientist, responsible for establishing a geological framework for resource evaluation.

In 2013, Duncan joined NEFTEX PETROLEUM CONSULTANTS LIMITED, where they worked as a GIS Mapping Geoscientist, focusing on developing global mapping workflows and managing data for publication. Later on, they became a Petroleum Exploration Geoscientist Project Lead, delivering petroleum risk products and reports for clients.

In 2016, Duncan joined Neftex Insights as a Solution Owner, Play Based Exploration. In this role, they managed a team in producing and delivering risked resource maps for hydrocarbon exploration. Duncan also designed and managed tools to standardize and automate this development process.

From 2017 to 2019, Duncan worked at Landmark, Halliburton as a Senior Technologist and Data Scientist. Duncan led the development of a cloud-hosted GIS toolkit for oil and gas exploration and conducted research on machine learning methodologies. Duncan also worked as a Scrum Master in an agile R&D team.

In 2019, Duncan joined SCISYS (now part of CGI) as a Geospatial Machine Learning Specialist, specializing in machine learning techniques for geospatial analysis.

Most recently, in 2022, Duncan joined Toumetis as a Principal Data Scientist.

Throughout their career, Duncan has demonstrated expertise in geoscience, data analysis, machine learning, and GIS. Duncan has also shown strong leadership skills, managing teams and delivering projects effectively.

Duncan Hay completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from the University of Glasgow in 2003. Duncan continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences in 2007.
