Ashley Lategan has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Ashley started their career as an Intern at GE in 2008 as part of the Financial Management Program. Ashley then worked as an Art Initiative Intern at Chatham County Economic Development Corporation from 2009 to 2010. Concurrently, they also served as an Administrative Assistant/Intern for Parks and Recreation at the Town of Chapel Hill, NC, from 2009 to 2011.

In 2010, Ashley joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Research Assistant for a brief period of time. Later that year, they transitioned to becoming a Human Resources Analyst at Chatham County from 2010 to 2012.

Joining the City of Asheville in 2012, Ashley worked as a Compensation & HRIS Analyst from 2012 to 2014, followed by the role of Compensation & Benefits Manager from 2014 to 2016.

Afterwards, they moved on to Wake County where they held the position of Senior HR Manager: Benefits & Wellness from 2016 to 2018.

Currently, Ashley is employed at the Town of Cary. Ashley initially served as the Employee Benefits Manager from May to June 2018. Ashley then took on the role of Senior HR Manager: Total Employee Health from July 2018 to May 2022. Since May 2022, they have been working as the Assistant Human Resources Director.

Ashley Lategan's education history includes a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which was obtained from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration and Management, General from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Romance Languages - Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, both from 2005 to 2009.

In addition to their formal education, Ashley has obtained several certifications. Ashley completed the Senior Executive Institute in 2022 at the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia. In the same year, they also completed the Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance (LCOP): Coach in Training program at North Carolina State University. In 2019, they became a LGFCU Fellow through the Leading for Results program at UNC School of Government. In 2017, they graduated from the Effective Supervisory Management Program at UNC School of Government. Furthermore, they obtained the Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist certification from the Corporate Health & Wellness Association (CHWA) in 2016.
