Nelson Martinez has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Nelson started their career as a Systems Engineer at Express Communications, Incorporated in 1990. Nelson then worked as an Engineer B at CSR, where they provided engineering support for Meteorological and Digital Range Safety systems. Nelson later joined Televisa as a Network Engineer, overseeing the implementation and maintenance of their corporate network infrastructure.

In 1996, Nelson became a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator at Ryder System, Inc., where they managed enterprise minicomputers and led the installation of High Availability Cluster Multiprocessor Protocol. Nelson then joined IBM Global Services as a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator, Technical Solutions Architect, and ERP Systems Engineer. In these roles, they managed ERP initiatives, designed architectural solutions utilizing eCommerce technologies, and generated significant new business for the company.

From 2004 to 2013, Nelson served as the CIO of the City of Miami Beach, providing strategic IT planning for the city and transforming the IT department into a strategic business partner. Nelson then worked as the CIO for the South Florida Digital Alliance, overseeing technology standards and policies, datacenter operations, and end-user desktop support.

In 2014, Nelson became the Director of Consulting Services at Enterprise Risk Management, managing various enterprise-level projects related to IT security, risk management, compliance, digital forensics, and IT audit. Nelson also worked as the Chief Technology Strategist at the City of Fort Lauderdale's Department of Sustainable Development, providing executive-level oversight for technology investments and projects.

Currently, Nelson is the CIO of the Town of Davie, a role they have held since 2015. With their MBA and CISSP certifications, they continue to make valuable contributions in the field of technology and information management.

Nelson Martinez holds an MBA degree from the University of Miami Herbert Business School, which they earned from 1999 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Miami, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from 1990 to 1993.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Nelson Martinez has received several certifications. Nelson obtained the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification from (ISC)² in October 2008. Following this, in June 2008, they earned the CGCIO (Certified Government Chief Information Officer) certification from Florida State University.

Later on, Nelson Martinez added more certifications to their profile. In October 2012, they obtained the PCIP (Purchasing Card Industry Professional) certification from the PCI Security Standards Council. Furthermore, in February 2013, they became a CISO (Certified Information Security Officer) through the EC-Council.
