John Peneda, Certified Tax Assessor, KUEZ Coordinator has been employed with the Town of Kearny since May 2009, when he was hired as the KUEZ Coordinator. As such, Mr. Peneda has brought many projects to Kearny, such as marketing the Town of Kearny, the Kearny Avenue streetscape, repaving projects in key commercial districts, flood prevention and other infrastructure improvements, new equipment and vehicles for the Kearny Fire Department, new police patrol vehicles, addition of new police officers to patrol the business district, security surveillance camera network, organizing business seminars, the KUEZ loan program, the Kearny Rewards Program, as well as many other projects. Mr. Peneda has also been the Tax Assessor since 2013, where he is responsible to appraise real and personal property to determine its fair value, to prepare and maintain current data on each assessed lot, to inspect properties in order to determine appraisal value, to complete and maintain assessment rolls, to analyze trends in sales prices, construction costs and rents, to establish uniform and equitable systems for assessing all classes and types of property, among other responsibilities.
