Deborah Swearingen

Deborah Swearingen is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in journalism and media. Currently serving as a Communications Specialist for the Town of Superior since June 2023, Deborah co-owns The DNA Collective, a position held since December 2021. Previous roles include City Reporter for the Daily Camera from September 2020 to October 2022, and Reporter for Evergreen Newspapers from September 2016 to September 2020. Additional reporting experience includes positions at the Florence Morning News and The Carolina Reporter. Deborah began their career in journalism with internships at Music Farm Columbia, Keenan Suggs Bowers Elkins, Creative Loafing Charlotte, and Jasper - The Word on Columbia Arts. Deborah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of South Carolina, awarded in 2015.
