Dan Zarrow has a diverse work experience in the field of meteorology. Dan started their career in 2006 as a Meteorologist at KSWO-TV, where they forecasted weather for multiple counties and presented weathercasts on-air. Dan then worked as a Fill-In Meteorologist at WENY-TV, serving the Elmira-Corning television market and also providing forecasts for radio stations in the area.
Dan later joined the Northeast Regional Climate Center, where they worked as a Research Support Specialist and collaborated with the USDA/NRCS to produce an atlas of extreme precipitation statistics for the Northeast region. Dan also redesigned the NRCC and Cornell Meteorology websites.
In 2008, Dan started working for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions as a GRE/GMAT Teacher and helped students prepare for graduate school exams. Dan was recognized among the top GRE teachers in the country.
Dan also gained experience in radio at WVBR 93.5 FM, where they served as Chairman of the Board and worked in various administrative, financial, and on-air roles. Dan successfully led a capital campaign fundraiser and managed the relocation of the station.
In 2011, Dan worked as a Freelance Meteorologist for News 12 New Jersey, appearing on-air as a fill-in meteorologist and participating in round-the-clock storm coverage.
From 2012 to 2014, Dan worked at the Office of the NJ State Climatologist at Rutgers University. There, they developed software, assisted in the development of a statewide weather station network, and created content for web and social media platforms.
In 2014, Dan joined Townsquare Media as the Chief Meteorologist, responsible for weather coverage for New Jersey radio stations and digital properties.
Lastly, from 2017 to 2020, Dan worked as a Resident Weather Chaser for Chasing News.
Dan Zarrow attended Jackson Memorial High School from 1998 to 2002. After completing high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from Cornell University, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. In 2009, they obtained a certification as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society. In 2013, Dan Zarrow enrolled at Rutgers University, where they studied Communication until 2014.
