Joseph Platt has extensive work experience in the civil engineering field. Joseph started their career in 2001 as Vice President of Traffic Engineering Services at Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. In 2014, they joined the Bethel Township, Delaware County, PA as a member of the Board of Supervisors and also served as the Vice-Chair of the Zoning Hearing Board. In the same year, they became the President of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Philadelphia Section, and later served as the President of the Philadelphia Section Younger Member Forum. In 2020, they took on the role of Region 2 Governor at the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Joseph Platt obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Widener University, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. In 2005, they obtained a Professional Engineer certification from various states including Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Maryland. In 2009, they received a Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II Certification from IMSA-International Municipal Signal Association. Joseph also acquired a Traffic Signal Inspector certification from the same institution. Most recently, in August 2023, they obtained an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) Near Coastal 100GT / Master Inland 25GT certification from the U.S. Coast Guard.
