Mpumi Msezane has a strong background in environmental management and strategic planning. From 2013 to present, they worked as the Head of Environment at TCTA, overseeing the environmental, social, and land acquisition functions of water supply projects. Prior to that, they were the Environmental and Social Manager at Parsons Brinckerhoff from 2009 to 2013, where they contributed to power and mining projects in Africa. From 2006 to 2008, they served as the Environmental Geoscience Manager at the Council for Geoscience, managing a team of scientists and providing strategic input in sustainable development through mining projects. Overall, Mpumi Msezane has demonstrated expertise in environmental management and has consistently played a key role in various organizations and their projects.
Mpumi Msezane's education history begins in 1982, when they attended Tsako Thabo High School. From 1987 to 1990, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Northwest (UNIBO) with majors in Biology, Chemistry, and Education. In 1992 and 1993, Mpumi studied at the Medical University of Southern Africa (Medunsa), where they obtained a BSc (Hons) in Biology, General. Mpumi continued their education at the University of Johannesburg from 1998 to 2001, earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Management.
In 2017, Mpumi enrolled in the Executive Development Programme at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika.
Furthermore, Mpumi Msezane obtained the certification of Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat) in October 2004 from the South African Council of Natural Professional Scientists (SACNASP).
