Jane Mackay has a diverse work experience that spans various roles in the field of editing, writing, and academia. Jane started their career in 2007 with Janemac Editing, where they provided copy editing and proofreading services to academic, author, and business clients. In 2014, they joined the Korean Social Science Journal (KSSJ) as a copy editor, focusing on editing and ensuring accurate descriptions of theory, methods, and results for research papers written by academics native in Asian languages.

In 2017, Jane Mackay worked as an editorial contractor, writer, editor, and marketing team contractor for TransImpact. Jane also volunteered as an editor for Translators without Borders, where they provided editing services for English content. In 2020, they took up copy editing role for the Korean Public Administration Review, where they focused on editing abstracts and research papers written by authors whose first language is not English.

Jane Mackay has also contributed their skills to various organizations. In 2020, they volunteered as an editor for SIRIUS GLOBAL - Academic Diplomacy 4.0, an organization working towards implementing the UN's Agenda 2030 by connecting academia and private enterprise. Jane also volunteered as an editor for the International Medical Community (IMC), an international initiative focused on improving access to healthcare worldwide through international cooperation and cutting-edge technologies.

In 2021, Jane Mackay joined Impact Innovation Alliance (IIA) as a lead editor and writer/editor of the Innovation Diary. The IIA is a global hub for impact innovators and supporting organizations that focuses on creating solutions for today's challenges, with a particular emphasis on the Sustainable Development Goals and job creation.

Most recently, in 2022, Jane Mackay joined Uphill Athlete as a forum manager and moderator, bringing their expertise in writing and editing to facilitate discussions and provide guidance.

Additionally, Jane Mackay operates as a ghostwriter since 2020, working closely with clients to help them bring their books into the world. Jane specializes in various subject areas and genres such as sports science, mountain sports, social and natural sciences, self-help, and how-to guides.

Jane Mackay received their Bachelor of Arts degree in German Language and Literature from The University of Auckland from 1988 to 1991. Jane then pursued a Master's degree in Journalism at Northeastern University from 2006 to 2010. In addition to their formal education, Jane obtained several certifications including an Inbound Certification from HubSpot Academy in November 2019, a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification from i-to-i TEFL in November 2018, and completed the "Miracles of Human Language: An Introduction to Linguistics" course through Coursera in August 2016.
