John Samels

John Samels has a diverse work experience in the field of art direction and graphic design. John started their career at CO OP Brand Partners as a Freelance Art Director in 2014. John then worked as a Freelance Art Director at J. Walter Thompson Worldwide from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, they served as a Freelance Art Director at Viacom (VH1) from March to June, followed by a brief period as a Freelance Art Director at DigitasLBi_US from July to October. John then joined VH-1 as an Art Director from October 2015 to 2017. In 2017, they worked at Translation LLC in various roles, including Freelance Art Director / Graphic Design and Senior Art Director. John'stenure at Translation LLC also involved responsibilities as a Graphic Design Senior and Music Producer from January 2018 to August 2019. John later worked as a Freelance Art Director at VICE Media in April 2019 and as a Freelance Art Director at McCann New York from January to May 2019. John'smost recent position is as a Creative Director at Colossal Media starting in July 2021.

John Samels attended the Perpich Center for Arts Education from 1996 to 1999, where they earned a degree in Media Arts with a focus on Photography, Film, and Animation. From 1999 to 2003, they attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design and Interactive Multimedia. In 2016, they participated in the Typography Summer School to further enhance their skills in Graphic Design.
