Darren Parsons

Darren Parsons has a diverse work experience spanning over 26 years. Darren is currently serving as the Head of Engineering at Transport Exchange Group since May 2022. Prior to this role, they worked at A.P. Moller - Maersk as a Senior Software Engineering Manager from October 2017 to December 2021. Their responsibilities included leading agile engineering teams to deliver various projects, such as APIs, machine learning data products, mobile apps, IAM capabilities, and modernization of the mearsk.com estate.

Before joining A.P. Moller - Maersk, Darren worked at thetrainline.com as a Development Manager from June 2013 to October 2017. During their tenure, they created and managed a cross-functional development group and implemented DevOps principles, significantly improving delivery agility.

Darren also has experience at Betfair as a Development Manager for six years, from November 2007 to May 2013. Darren successfully led agile projects, implemented SCRUM / XP principles, and owned various SOA system components supporting the betting exchange.

Furthermore, Darren worked at Global Freight Exchange (GF-X.com) as an Application Development Manager from September 2001 to September 2007. Darren designed and implemented the GF-X Host-to-Host search and book product and managed the web-platform revision.

Darren's career started at Deckchair.com, where they served as a Development Team Leader from April 2000 to May 2001, leading a JAVA/Web development team and working on airline schedule search technology.

Darren began their career at British Airways as a Senior Programmer from November 1995 to April 2000. In this role, they were involved in application analysis, design, and build for passenger booking management and ATPCO Fare feed processing.

Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Information Technology at Aston University from 1994 to 1995.
