Alex de Groot

Alex de Groot has over 18 years of work experience. In 2003, they began their career as a Software Engineer at LeaseWeb, where they developed websites for a Hosting company (ASP/PHP) and introduced the Linux hosting practice. In 2004, they took on two roles: Lead Engineer at Omerta Game Ltd, where they led the development of the webgame 'Omerta' with over 5000 concurrent users, and CMS Specialist/Software Engineer at LECTRIC B.V., where they provided Solution Design, Development, and Consultancy for customers. In 2008, they became Director of Product Engineering Processes at Sitecore, where they helped the senior management of the R&D department to define the right structures, processes & controls to effectively manage the outcomes while growing from 50 to 250 engineers. Alex also held the role of Head of Application Services Department, where their teams enabled the YoY 50%+ financial growth by delivering a world class application landscape. In 2015, they took on the role of ISV/SaaS Technology & Strategy Consultant at Xpirit, where they advised on the latest trends including Security/Privacy, Platform Thinking, Data Platforms and Architecture. Alex also worked as an (International) Public Speaker since 2012. Most recently, in 2022, they became Chief Mindset Officer & Co-Founder at APY.coach, and Head of Product Engineering at Trengo - Smart Conversations Platform.

Alex de Groot attended Avans University of Applied Sciences from 2004 to 2019, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Computer Science.
