Craig Unrath has a diverse work experience in the military and simulation training field. Starting in 2000, they served as the Deputy for the National Simulation Center's Digital Integration Office, managing Army simulations at the Central Technical Support Facility and providing support for simulation fielding and exercises at the National Training Center. In 2003, they became the Chief of Training and Support Operations for the 1st Cavalry Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom II. From 2005 to 2007, they served as the FA57 Career Manager & Assignments Officer, responsible for the career management of 207 Army Officers in Simulation Operations. Craig then took on the role of Division Chief for the Operations Research, Modeling, and Analysis Division at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, leading personnel in the use of simulation and analytical tools. From 2010 to 2012, they served as the Deputy Director of Simulation at the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence, overseeing simulation and mission command support for aviation training. In 2012, they became the Chief of Training Division for the US Army South, responsible for training management and readiness reporting. In 2013, Craig pursued graduate education at The United States Army War College, focusing on strategic studies and leadership. Craig then joined the Army University in 2016, serving as the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and later as Chief of the Learning Requirements Division. Currently, they work as the Operations Manager at Trideum Corporation since 2018.

Craig Unrath has a diverse education history including both academic degrees and certifications. Craig obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Airway Science from the University of North Dakota, graduating in 1990. From 1998 to 2000, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation at the Naval Postgraduate School. Continuing their education, Craig earned a Master of Strategic Studies (M.S.S.) in Military and Strategic Leadership from The United States Army War College, completing the program in 2014. Craig also attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College from 2002 to 2003, although the degree and field of study for this period are unspecified.

In addition to their academic career, Craig has obtained several certifications throughout their professional development. Craig completed the "Capturing Federal Business & Winning Color Team Reviews" certification program offered by Shipley Associates: We Help Companies Win Business in February 2023. In June 2019, they earned the "Writing and Managing Federal Proposals" certification from the same institution. Craig also pursued the "Python for Everybody" certification through the University of Michigan on Coursera, successfully obtaining it in December 2017. Furthermore, they completed the "Advanced Simulation Operations Course" provided by the US Army Modeling and Simulation Office in May 2009. Lastly, Craig became a Certified Modeling and Simulation Professional through NTSA in October 2019.
