Jennie Yujia Liu, PhD has a diverse work experience in the life sciences. Jennie Yujia began their career in 2011 as a Student Research Assistant at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where they were responsible for animal colony management, breeding set up, genotyping and inventory. Jennie Yujia also proactively participated in an independent study program as an undergraduate researcher and produced critical data for a journal publication, and was experienced in brain tissue processing, IF staining and confocal microscopy. In 2018, they became an Executive Committee Member and Treasurer at the University of Iowa, where they oversaw a total of $45k funding and presented budgets and financial statements to the committees. Jennie Yujia also provided key financial advice in campaigns and event planning for graduate student professional development, and proactively initiated funding reallocation towards supporting academically delayed students during COVID-19. Additionally, they were also Co Chair of Grants and Travel Funds Committee. That same year, they also joined Ximbio as a Ximbassador, where they served as a liaison between inventors at the University of Iowa, the Technology Transfer Office at UIowa Research Foundation and Ximbio, to facilitate invention commercialization. Jennie Yujia maintained efficient and accurate communication among inventors, Ximbio and U of Iowa Research Foundation, and identified KOLs for new client development. In 2014, they began their graduate studies at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, where they received comprehensive PhD training in molecular neuroscience as well as critical transferable skills such as project leadership and facilitating multi-team collaboration. Her research focused on neurodegenerative diseases, mitochondrial dynamics in neurological function and disorders, and mechanisms in learning and memory. Her technical skillset includes extensive animal research experiences with a solid understanding in the design and limitations of different animal models, including genetic modified models and pharmacological intervention models, and broad experiences with animal behavioral experiments, tissue sample processing, experimental design using biochemical analysis, confocal microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Jennie Yujia is also familiar with the process of identifying potential drug targets for therapeutic development with experiences in secondary validation of small molecule lead compounds using cell based assays. In 2021, they joined TriSalus Life Sciences as a Research Scientist I and Postdoctoral Fellow.
Jennie Yujia Liu, PhD, obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacology from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine between 2014 and 2021. Prior to that, they obtained their B.S.Pharmaceutical Science from The Ohio State University between 2009 and 2013, with a field of study in Pharmaceutical Science.
