Julie A. Townsend

As TriWest’s Chief Planning and Implementation Officer, Julie is responsible for TriWest’s strategic and operational planning activities, market research and business development, TriWest’s enterprise Project Management Office, and the quality and performance improvement program. She joined the TriWest leadership team in 2001.

Julie currently serves as an adjunct professor for George Washington University, teaching strategic planning to graduate students. With more than 30 years of experience in health care administration, Julie owned and operated a consulting firm that provided services for more than 30 clients, including TriWest. She has also served as the executive director of state associations for both managed care organizations and providers. For more than a decade, Julie was a hospital administrator in tertiary teaching hospitals.

Julie holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has received many awards for distinguished community service and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
