Fisheries Restoration Coordinator at Trout Unlimited

Jim DeRito is an experienced fisheries restoration professional with a focus on coldwater fish, primarily cutthroat trout, in the Bear River watershed. Currently serving as Fisheries Restoration Coordinator at Trout Unlimited since August 2012, Jim manages restoration initiatives across various states, including Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada. Prior to this role, Jim was the Research and Restoration Director at the Henry's Fork Foundation from September 2004 to July 2012, overseeing an aquatic research program in the Henrys Fork of the Snake River watershed. Jim’s earlier experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Montana Cooperative Fisheries Research Unit and working as a Fisheries Technician/Biologist for the Nez Perce National Forest. Jim holds a Master of Science in Fisheries Management from Montana State University-Bozeman and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
