Mike David has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Mike began their career in 1973 as a design director at Dove Design. From 1978 to 1985, they served as the illumination shop manager at The Restaurant Factory. In 1986, Mike started their own business called MG David Design, where they offered services such as etched glass and synthetic stained glass architectural products. This business continued until 1988, during which it was their sole source of income. In 1989, Mike joined Troy Lee Designs, where they initially focused on helmet aesthetics and accessories before progressing to the development of advanced elite athlete helmets. Mike gained extensive experience and knowledge in helmet engineering during their time with the company.
Mike David attended Santa Ynez Valley Union High School from 1968 to 1972, where they studied art and theater. Following high school, they enrolled at Allan Hancock College from 1971 to 1974, focusing on design and applied arts as well as film studies. Mike then attended the California College of Arts and Crafts from 1973 to 1974, specializing in sculpture. In 1974, Mike attended UC Santa Barbara for a year, concentrating on documentary production. In 1998, they briefly studied Photoshop and Autocad at Riverside City College. No specific degree was mentioned for any of these educational experiences.
