Dr. Joshua Scarpino

Dr. Joshua Scarpino has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Dr. Joshua is currently serving as the Vice President of Information Security (CISO) at TrustEngine since May 2022. Dr. Joshua is also a Contributor at the AI Vulnerability Database since July 2023.

In addition, Dr. Scarpino is a Fellow at ForHumanity (FCHA) and a Contributor at FHCA since July 2023. Dr. Joshua was previously a Contributor at FHCA from June 2022 to July 2023.

Dr. Scarpino is the Founder and CEO of Assessed.Intelligence, a Security and AI consulting and research company that they established in April 2022. The company aims to assist organizations in implementing secure, ethical, and equitable technology deployments.

Dr. Joshua is also part of the Ohio Cyber Reserve as a Cyber Reserve member since December 2022. Furthermore, they serve as an Advisory Board member for Engineering Leadership at Ashland University since June 2022.

Prior to these roles, they worked as an Adjunct Instructor of Cybersecurity and Computer Science at Stark State College starting from October 2021.

Before entering the private sector, Dr. Scarpino had a distinguished career in the United States Air Force. Dr. Joshua held the positions of Quality Assurance Inspector and Operational Security Manager, where they ensured compliance with regulations and drove improvements in maintenance operations and cyber hygiene. Dr. Joshua also served as an Aerospace Equipment NCO.

Dr. Scarpino also has experience in the insurance industry, having worked as a Senior IT and Security Auditor at Westfield Insurance from November 2017 to March 2021. In this role, they provided strategic oversight and direction, assessed enterprise risk, and evaluated the effectiveness of IT and security controls.

Dr. Joshua Scarpino holds a Doctor of Science degree in Cybersecurity from Marymount University. Dr. Joshua also earned a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity and a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Information Security, both from Excelsior University. Additionally, they obtained an Associate of Science degree in Aerospace Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, and an Associate of Science degree in Cybersecurity and Forensic Technology from Stark State College. Dr. Scarpino further enhanced their education by completing the Ohio Peace Officer Training - OPOTA program in Criminal Justice and Corrections at The University of Akron. In 2009, they attended the NCO Academy at the Community College of the Air Force to study Organizational Leadership. Prior to that, Dr. Scarpino completed the Cisco Networking Academy program, focusing on CCNA.

Apart from their academic achievements, Dr. Scarpino holds several certifications.
