Hugh McDermott has a diverse work experience in various industries. Hugh began their career in 2011 as a Staff Assistant at Nexsen Pruet, LLC. In 2012, they worked at the National Geographic Channel in the Office of the President and also served as a Field Organizer at Organizing for America. McDermott then joined the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2013, where they worked as a Gulf Restoration Council Intern and later as a Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary.
In 2015, McDermott joined The White House as a Scheduler to First Lady Michelle Obama, and later became the Associate Director of Scheduling for the First Lady in 2016. McDermott then transitioned to Everytown for Gun Safety in 2017, serving as the Surrogates Manager and subsequently as the Deputy Director of Leadership Engagement.
Their most recent role, starting from April 2018, is as a Vice President at TTR Sotheby's International Realty. Hugh is known as one of the top-selling real estate agents under the age of 35 in the Washington metro area and focuses on providing excellent service to their clients through strong negotiation skills and building relationships in the marketplace.
Hugh McDermott completed their high school education at Salisbury School from 2003 to 2007 and obtained a High School Diploma. Subsequently, they pursued higher education at the College of Charleston from 2007 to 2011. At the College of Charleston, they achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Communication.
