Shadi Albarqouni

Shadi Albarqouni currently serves as a TT W2 Professor of Computational Medical Imaging Research at the University of Bonn since January 2022, focusing on developing automated solutions in medical imaging. In addition, Shadi leads the Albarqouni Lab as AI Young Investigator Group Leader at Helmholtz AI, specializing in deep Federated Learning algorithms. Shadi is also a Senior Research Affiliate at the Technical University of Munich, where involvement spans various roles from postdoctoral research to PhD candidacy in Medical Informatics. Previous positions include visiting scientist roles at Imperial College London and ETH Zürich, as well as a visiting researcher at the DZNE. Early career includes IT leadership at the Nassr Pediatric Hospital in Palestine, teaching roles at the Islamic University of Gaza and the University College of Applied Sciences, and engagement with GIZ as a guest speaker. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich, alongside master's and bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Islamic University of Gaza.
