In 2004, they worked as the Director of Accounting and Finance Recruiting at a Boutique Accounting & Finance Recruiting Agency until 2007.
In 2007, they founded TurningPoint Executive Search and served as CEO, Founder, and National Recruiter. The company became a top executive search firm for Sales & Marketing professionals. They worked with national and global clients and were recognized for their achievements, including being ranked as a Top 20 Company for Women to Work in 2019 and ranking in the Top 50 Fastest Growing Private Companies in San Diego in 2017 & 2016. They also won the award for Best Sales & Marketing Recruitment Firm - California in 2015.
In 2012, they became a Board Member of HR CAFÉ, San Diego's premier human resources networking community, until 2019.
In 2013, they joined the board of Junior Achievement of San Diego County as a Volunteer, Company Program Sponsor, and Former Executive Board Member. Ken mentored high school students to help them discover their strengths and career interests.
Also in 2013, they became an Advisory Board Member of AMA San Diego, a resource that provides support, networking events, and career opportunities for professionals in various marketing and creative fields. Ken served as Former VP Membership and Corporate Sponsor.
In 2014, they became an Executive Board Member of San Diego Sport Innovators, a non-profit organization focused on the Sport and Active Lifestyle industries. Ken partnered with local companies in the industry to expand their network and provide talent development and acquisition resources.
In 2015, they founded and served as CEO of Dynamic Disruption - SoCal Sales & Marketing Summit, which brought together sales and marketing leaders in a regional summit.
In 2019, they took on the role of Country Director and Advisory Board Member at Talentor International, a global executive search organization.
Most recently, starting in 2023, they became a Podcast Host & Author at The Practical Optimist, where they host bi-monthly conversations about the intersection of leadership and life.

Ken Schmitt attended Cathedral High School (formerly Uni) from 1984 to 1988, where they earned their Diploma. Following their high school education, they attended the University of San Diego from 1988 to 1992. Ken pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics during this period.
