Luke Farrugia

Luke Farrugia has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Luke started their career as a Laboratory Chemist at Donau Chemie AG in 2006, followed by a brief role as a Product Quality Analyst at Farsons Group of Companies in 2007. Luke then worked as a Laboratory Teaching Assistant at the University of Malta in 2007-2008. Luke joined the University of Leeds as an R&D Laboratory Support in 2010 and continued until 2013.

In 2013, Luke transitioned to consulting roles within the transport planning and advisory sector. At CH2M, they held positions as a Junior Consultant Engineer (2013-2014), Consultant Engineer (2014-2015), and later as a Senior Consultant (2015-2017). In these roles, they managed and led teams through complex technology and innovation projects related to vehicle emissions, transport planning, and economics. Luke successfully steered technical client discussions with a strategic focus and provided creative solutions to meet financial limitations and targets.

Currently, Luke is working as a Product Manager at U+ Venture Building since February 2021, where they are responsible for managing product strategies and development.

Luke Farrugia obtained their PhD in Chemistry from the University of Leeds, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed an M.Sc. (Eng.) in Environmental and Energy Engineering from The University of Sheffield, from 2008 to 2009. Luke obtained their B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Malta, studying from 2004 to 2008.

Before attending university, Luke Farrugia acquired a Matriculation Certificate from G.F. Abela Junior College, University of Malta, from 2002 to 2004. Luke completed their secondary education certification at The Archbishop's Seminary Secondary School from 1997 to 2002, which involved studying various subjects such as Maltese, English, French, Italian, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technical Design, History, and Geography.

Luke Farrugia also holds additional certifications. In February 2021, they obtained certifications in Agile Software Development, Agile with Atlassian Jira, and Lean Software Development from Coursera. In December 2020, they earned the PROFESSIONAL SCRUM MASTER™ I certification from Scrum.org.
