Shannon Coe is the Director of Global Data Policy at the U.S. Department of Commerce, a position held since November 2008, where management of a team focusing on global cross-border data flow policies supporting international trade occurs. Shannon leads U.S. participation in the Global Cross Border Privacy Rules Forum and engages in multilateral discussions within organizations such as OECD, APEC, G7, and G20. Previously, Shannon served as a Senior Attorney for the International Trade Administration, providing legal analysis on trade law issues and international agreements. Prior experience includes working as an Associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where assistance was provided to clients in securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance, along with pro bono representation of a Nepali asylum seeker. Educational qualifications include a law degree from American University Washington College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in International Relations and Affairs from Georgia Institute of Technology.
