Sam LaGrone is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in naval and maritime reporting. Currently serving as the USNI News Editor at the US Naval Institute since February 2012, Sam is the founding editor for the publication. Previous roles include freelance writing for Popular Science, covering U.S. maritime issues, and serving as a US Maritime Reporter for IHS Jane's. Additional contributions as a freelance writer for WIRED's Danger Room blog, staff writer positions at Air Force Times and The News & Observer, and internships at several news outlets have further enriched Sam's expertise. A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute with a BA in English Literature and Fine Arts, Sam also studied at the University of Tartu.
