Excavation and Containment Lead at UC Santa Barbara

Alexis Frias is currently the Excavation and Containment Lead at UC Santa Barbara. Prior to this, they held positions as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Keysight Technologies and a Summer Analyst at Accel.

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Keysight Technologies, Alexis standardized 500 legacy machined part drawings to current ASME Y14.5 GD&T and company standards. Alexis also collaborated with engineering and implemented DFMA to produce an estimated savings of $50,000-100,000. In addition, Alexis identified high cost procedures and recommended lower cost alternatives to product engineers. Finally, they created and modified 3D models for various production parts in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.

As a Summer Analyst at Accel, Alexis met with partners and learned about the ins and outs of venture capital and the process for evaluating growth companies. In addition, they reviewed research reports on startup companies in early-stage funding that have the potential for a private equity investment. Finally, Alexis surveyed over 200 college student participants and analyzed the data to create a presentation that covers trends in technology consumption with a thesis on potential growth companies.

Alexis Frias has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.
