Olegs Sokols

Venue Operations Broadcast Manager Tutor at UEFA

Olegs Sokols has a diverse work experience in the sports industry. Olegs started their career as a sports reporter for Telegraf, where they covered football, ice hockey, and basketball. Olegs then worked as a football reporter for Sovetskiy Sport from 2005 to 2008.

In 2008, Sokols joined Marshal Group as an Operations Manager and also acted as a senior editor for ru.UEFA.com, where they were responsible for planning and delivering content. Olegs held these roles until 2014.

From 2014 to 2018, Sokols worked as a Media Relations Manager for FIFA. During this time, they gained experience in managing media relations for the organization.

In 2019, Sokols joined UEFA as a EURO 2020 Communications Consultant. Olegs later took on the role of Senior EURO 2020 Communications Officer and was involved in managing and coordinating communications for the tournament. Olegs then became a Project Lead, where they were responsible for managing content sharing platforms for EURO 2020 and assisting with a media syndication project.

In 2021, Sokols became a Venue Operations Broadcast Manager (VOBM) for UEFA, where they acted as the official UEFA representative and coordinated various commercial aspects, particularly broadcast and media activities. Olegs worked at the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as well as UEFA Europa League and UEFA Women's Champions League matches.

Sokols is currently a Venue Operations Broadcast Manager Tutor at UEFA, providing expertise and tutoring in venue operations and broadcast management.

Sokols is also involved in entrepreneurial ventures. Olegs co-founded Matchdaypass.co in 2023, a company focused on matchday experiences. Additionally, they briefly worked as a Broadcast Venue Manager for Hogmore Media during the UEFA Championship - Women's Under-17.

Olegs Sokols completed their general secondary education at Pushkin lyceum from 1996 to 2001, with a focus on economics. Following this, from 2001 to 2005, they attended the Baltic International Academy, where they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. Their studies at the academy focused on business administration, specifically in the field of economics, resulting in a B.Sc in Economics.
