Lauren Irizarry has a diverse work experience that spans over a decade. Lauren began their career as a Contributing Writer for The Florida Independent Alligator, where they wrote about local and campus topics. Lauren then worked as an Editorial Intern for North Central Florida Business Report, where they wrote feature stories, managed social media, and performed general copy editing. Lauren later joined Mute Magazine as an Editorial Intern, where they conducted research, wrote press releases, and maintained a contacts database.
In 2010, they became a Web Producer for Gainesville Sun, gaining experience in web production. Lauren then transitioned to the healthcare industry and joined UF Health as a Communications Coordinator. In this role, they developed communication plans, managed digital and social media properties, and provided strategic messaging guidance. Lauren was later promoted to Assistant Director of Digital Communication, where they developed and implemented advancement communications strategies and supported development objectives through digital storytelling. Lauren progressed further within UF Health and became an Associate Director of Communications before taking on their current role as the Director of Advancement Communications, where they focus on achieving system-wide fundraising goals.
Lauren Irizarry obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Journalism from Santa Fe College between 2006 and 2008. From 2008 to 2010, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Journalism and Business Administration from the University of Florida.
