Shahrokh Akhlaghi, Ph.D., SMIEEE has a diverse work experience in the fields of engineering and academia. Shahrokh is currently working as a Senior Engineer at Ulteig since November 2020. Prior to that, they held the role of Secretary of IEEE Task Force on Power System Dynamic State and Parameter Estimation at IEEE Power & Energy Society from July 2017.
Dr. Akhlaghi also served as a Modeling Engineer in the Planning Department at Southwest Power Pool from September 2018 to November 2020. Shahrokh'swork involved validating and calibrating generator dynamic states and electrical parameters using measurement unit and SCADA data. Shahrokh proposed various approaches to improve the performance and accuracy of model validation and estimation algorithms.
Before joining Southwest Power Pool, Dr. Akhlaghi was a Ph.D. Candidate and Research Assistant at Binghamton University from August 2014 to August 2018. Shahrokh'sresearch focused on developing algorithms for dynamic state estimation in power systems using local and wide-area measurements. Shahrokh also worked on mitigating noise and low data quality issues in dynamic state estimation.
Additionally, Dr. Akhlaghi has held positions in the corporate sector as well. Shahrokh served as the Vice Chairman of the Board at Teyf Tavan Gostar from March 2012 to May 2014. Shahrokh was also a Lecturer at Azad University, Central Tehran Branch from September 2010 to September 2013. Furthermore, they worked as a Research Assistant at Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic from January 2009 to January 2010.
Dr. Shahrokh Akhlaghi holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Binghamton University. Shahrokh completed their doctoral studies from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technologies/Technicians from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic from 2008 to 2011.
In addition to their formal education, Dr. Akhlaghi has also obtained certifications in Python programming. Shahrokh completed the "Python for Research" course from edX in February 2017 and the "python programming" course from edX in January 2016. Shahrokh also holds a certification from the Organization for Engineering Order of Building- Tehran, although the details of this certification, such as the institution and the date of completion, are not provided.
