John Fikes

John Fikes has a diverse range of work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. John is currently employed at Ultragenyx as the Senior Vice President of Program & Portfolio Management. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice President, Head of Program Team Leaders (PTLs) at Ultragenyx and Executive Director, Program & Portfolio Management.

Before joining Ultragenyx, John worked at Horizon Pharma plc as the Senior Director of Business Operations for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). John also had previous experience at Raptor Pharmaceuticals, where they served as the Senior Director of Business Operations for EMEA and as the Senior Director of Program Management.

John has also worked as a Drug Development Consultant at Fikes R&D Consulting, providing guidance and support to clients in developing and executing R&D plans aligned with business objectives.

Earlier in their career, John held various roles at Kalypsys, Inc, including Vice President of R&D Operations. John also worked at Neurocrine Biosciences as the Director of Program Management and at Epimmune as the VP of Cancer Program.

John's career began at Cytel as a Scientist-Associate Director, and they also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT.

John Fikes obtained a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Arkansas in 1983. John then pursued a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine from 1983 to 1988. After completing their Ph.D., they served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Gene Regulation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1988 to 1991.
