Choon Kiat is a Scientist on the cell line development team at Umami Meats, where he focuses on developing cell lines and directing cell differentiation.

Prior to joining Umami Meats, Choon Kiat was awarded a Ph.D. scholarship from the NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering (NGS Scholarship), and subsequently did his post-doc fellowship at the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS). A cell biologist by training, Choon Kiat has extensive experience in the field of epigenetics and cardiovascular disease. He spent most of his research career studying the direct reprogramming of fibroblasts to cardiomyocytes, and his work was published in the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology (JMCC) as the Editor’s Choice.
