Christopher Brown has been working in software engineering since 2013. Christopher started at Azavea in 2013 as a Software Engineer, then moved up to Senior Software Engineer in 2016, and Software Engineering Lead in 2019. During their time at Azavea, they managed the development of Raster Foundry, an imagery platform indexing tens of millions of satellite images, and worked on DistrictBuilder, an open-source political redistricting platform. Christopher also updated deployment tooling for HunchLab to use Blue/Green deployments, utilize Ansible, and updated CloudFormation templates for deployment in AWS. In 2021, Christopher Brown joined Umbra as the Director of Software Development Engineering and Lead Ground Software Engineer.
Christopher Brown obtained their Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College in 2009. Christopher is currently enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania in the same field of study.
