Mariana Estrada Avila is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in developing and implementing communication strategies, particularly in the context of Latin America and the Caribbean. Currently serving as a Communications Officer at UN Climate Change since March 2023, Mariana focuses on creating Spanish content and engaging with media. Prior to this role, Mariana worked at FAO for ten years as an advocacy and gender specialist, managing initiatives such as the #IndigenousWomen pillar and the #MesoamericaSinHambre digital communication strategy. Mariana's career also includes roles as a Communications Analyst at FIRA and a Broadcast Journalist at TV Azteca. Mariana holds a Master's degree in Human Rights and Indigenous Peoples' rights from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, along with various courses in communication and indigenous rights.
