Barbara Edson is an accomplished healthcare executive with extensive experience in virtual care and clinical quality. Currently serving as the Executive Director of the Virtual Care Center at UNC Health since November 2017, Barbara Edson oversees the development and implementation of enterprise virtual care solutions. Previously, as Vice President of Clinical Quality at the American Hospital Association from January 2011 to October 2017, Barbara Edson enhanced healthcare quality and safety through various projects and services. Barbara Edson also held the position of Director of Collaborative Learning at the North Carolina Healthcare Association from 2004 to 2011, leading statewide initiatives to improve patient safety and care quality. Early in the career, Barbara Edson managed Hospital Patient Safety Services at The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence. Educational qualifications include an MBA MHA from Pfeiffer University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University.
