Ashok Ramasubramanian

Director, Assessment at Union College

Ashok Ramasubramanian is the current Director of Assessment at Union College. Ashok has also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis and as a Digital Signal Processing Engineer [Intern] at The MathWorks.

Ashok Ramasubramanian obtained their Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 2007. Their dissertation research, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Larry Taber, studied the process of c-looping during early embryonic heart development. Ashok conducted wet lab experiments using the chick embryo as an experimental model and also modeled c-looping using nonlinear finite element analysis.

During their time at Washington University in St. Louis, Ashok Ramasubramanian also supervised undergraduate research students and wrote high quality grants and papers. Prior to their time at Washington University in St. Louis, they worked as a Digital Signal Processing Engineer [Intern] at The MathWorks in 2000 and 1998.

Ashok Ramasubramanian received their Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering from Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth. Ashok also holds a Master's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy. In addition, Ashok has several Coursera and edX certificates in topics related to machine learning and data analysis.

Their manager is Strom Thacker, VP of Academic Affairs & Dean for the Faculty. They work with Greta Donato - Director of Academic Planning & Finance, Valerie D’Amario - Director of the Union College Academy for Lifelong Learning (UCALL), and James McLaughlin - Director of Athletics.
