Stephanie Starr has over 20 years of work experience in various roles within the social work field. Stephanie has a strong background in program management, budgeting, and strategic planning. Stephanie has held leadership positions, including as a Director of Community Support and Outreach for Union County, NC, where they managed emergency assistance and social work programs. Stephanie has also served as a Performance Improvement Consultant for Alexander Youth Network and as the Director of System Operations for Cardinal Innovations Healthcare. Stephanie has experience in nonprofit management as the Executive Director of the BNI Foundation and as the Executive Director of Jewish Family Services of Greater Charlotte, Inc. Additionally, they have worked as a Regional Director for Family Preservation Services and as a Utilization Review Specialist for the Mecklenburg County Area Mental Health Authority. Stephanie Starr, PMP, MSW, LCSW has a strong educational background in the fields of public administration, social work, and pre-med psychology. Stephanie obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan between 1985 and 1989, focusing on pre-med and psychology. Subsequently, between 1992 and 1994, Stephanie pursued a Master of Social Work degree from Hunter College, specializing in the field of social work. In 2021, Stephanie began pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they are expected to complete in 2024.

In addition to their academic achievements, Stephanie has obtained several certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. Stephanie obtained their LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) certification from the NCSWCLB (North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board) in April 1997. In August 2016, Stephanie attained their Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. Stephanie also obtained a Project Management Plus Certificate from Central Piedmont Community College in June 2016. Furthermore, Stephanie acquired a Certificate in Municipal and County Government from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in April 2020.
