Lead Scientist, Science Hub For Climate Litigation at Union Of Concerned Scientists

L Delta Merner, PhD has a diverse work experience that spans a range of roles and responsibilities. Currently, they are working as the Lead Scientist for the Science Hub for Climate Litigation at the Union of Concerned Scientists. Prior to this, they worked at the American Institute of Physics where they held positions such as Senior Research Scientist and Principal Research Associate. Their work at the institute involved designing and conducting surveys, analyzing large-scale projects, and focusing on minorities in STEM fields. Additionally, they have served as an Adjunct Professor in Environmental Science at William Paterson University and worked as a Research Assistant/Teaching Assistant at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. They have also held positions as the Operations Coordinator at The Alliance for Appalachia and as a Researcher and Community Organizer at the Sludge Safety Project. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Case Manager and Disaster Preparedness Trainer at the Texas Interagency Disaster Response (TIDR), where they developed community resilience and preparedness protocols.

L Delta Merner, PhD received a Bachelor's degree in Geography and Environmental Science and Policy from Clark University in 2008. They then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geography and Environmental Systems from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2014. They also hold certifications in CRP and First Aid from the American Safety & Health Institute.
