Tarek Ghobar

Tarek Ghobar has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Tarek co-founded paymennt.com in 2019, where they focused on providing micro and small businesses with quick and secure access to online payments. In 2018, Tarek served as the Regional Director for Union, a platform that connects startups and organizations globally. Tarek was responsible for driving growth in the MENA and Europe regions and improving cohort results for accelerators and incubators.

From 2016 to 2017, Tarek worked as a Startup Manager for 1776, a global incubator and seed fund. Tarek managed the startup portfolio in the Dubai campus, overseeing recruitment and mentoring to ensure accelerated growth for the startups. Before that, Tarek was the Managing Director for hellofood KSA at foodpanda, the leading online food ordering marketplace. Tarek led all aspects of the business in Saudi Arabia, including local marketing, sales, account management, finance, and operations.

Tarek also has experience with Rocket Internet ME as the Head of Sales for hellofood in the Middle East. Tarek was responsible for expanding the platform across five countries, managing local teams, and developing partnerships to drive sales and traffic. In addition, Tarek founded and organized FailCon NL, a startup failure conference, in the Netherlands in 2013.

Before their entrepreneurial ventures, Tarek held positions as the Co-founder and Shareholder of LeQuest, a company specializing in interactive online training tools for medical equipment users, and as the Co-founder and Managing Director of IcySolutions B.V., a tech startup focused on cold therapy for professional athletes. Tarek began their career as a Faculty Program Assistant at TU Delft, where they helped launch an Aircraft Maintenance Short Course Program.

Tarek's experience also includes a business development internship at Sendori, where they worked closely with the CEO to identify opportunities and improve products. Throughout their career, Tarek has demonstrated strong leadership, business acumen, and a passion for entrepreneurship.

Tarek Ghobar pursued their education starting from 1999 when they attended UWC Red Cross Nordic. Tarek completed their International Baccalaureate degree from there in the year 2001. After that, from 2001 to 2004, they enrolled at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) to study Avionics Engineering, which led him to acquire a BSc degree. Finally, from 2004 to 2007, Tarek attended Delft University of Technology, specializing in Aerospace Engineering, and obtained a BSc degree as well.
