John Diaz has been working in operations at UNIS since February 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a Sr. Research Administrator/Fund Manager at the University of California, Los Angeles from June 2017 to February 2019. In that role, they provided support to faculty within a multi-million dollar portfolio with pre-award activities such as proposal development and post-award activities including monitoring expenses and personnel costs, generating budget projections, and assisting with preparation and submission of progress reports and closeouts. John also conducted review and analysis of grant and contract agreements as needed in order to ensure compliance with terms and conditions, interpreted and subsequently communicated both sponsor and University policies and their underlying principles to researchers and campus administrators, and coordinated on-going grant management activities on behalf of the University, while working with investigators, campus administrators, sub-recipients, and sponsors to ensure that award terms were honored, reports were submitted, and close-out documents processed and submitted. Additionally, they participated in work groups focused on process improvement and maintained positive and cooperative working relationships with University community and funding agency staff.
John Diaz attended Manual Arts High School and graduated with honors in general studies. John then went on to Los Angeles City College where they earned an AA in liberal arts and another AA in accounting. Finally, they attended California State University, Los Angeles where they earned a BS in operations management.
Their manager is James Lin, CEO. They are on a team with Allen Zhou - Chief Technology Officer, Tom Yu - Chief Information Officer, and Scott Simanek - Chief Commercial Officer.
