Shaba Martinez has a diverse work experience spanning across various roles in education and administration. They began as a Research Assistant at the Wisconsin Center for Educational Research in 2006 before moving on to work as a Computer Lab and Information Desk Technician at the University of Wisconsin - Madison - Steenbock Library. Transitioning to the private sector, they took on the role of an Administrative Assistant before entering the field of education. Starting at the Madison Metropolitan School District in 2010, they held positions such as District Substitute Teacher and 4th Grade Summer School Math Teacher. Their roles at the United Community Center included 7th & 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher, 5th Grade Teacher, Library Media Specialist & Math Interventionist, Digital Learning Specialist & Library Media Specialist, and currently, Director of Academics & Technology. Shaba's experience demonstrates a strong background in education, technology integration, curriculum development, and instructional leadership.
Shaba Martinez obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Teaching with a focus on Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009. Shaba later earned a Master's degree in Information, Technology & Libraries with a Certification as a School Library Media Specialist from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2019. Additionally, Shaba completed a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Alverno College in 2019, where they also obtained Director of Instruction and School Principal Licensures. Shaba is currently pursuing a Superintendent Licensure from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, expected to be completed in 2023.
