Emma Cherniavsky

Emma Cherniavsky is the Chief Executive Officer at UK for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) since September 2020, bringing extensive leadership experience in the nonprofit sector. Prior to this role, Emma served as Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Fundraising for the Liberal Democrats from July 2014 to August 2020, where strategic and operational leadership was provided, along with oversight of annual fundraising. Emma's experience also includes roles as Chief Development Officer at International Crisis Group, where an $18 million fundraising operation was overseen, and as Deputy Development Director at Human Rights Watch, where fundraising and advocacy efforts were significantly expanded. Emma holds an MA in International Law from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a BA in International Relations from Brown University.
