Michael V. is a seasoned Human Rights Officer at the United Nations Human Rights since June 2010, specializing in the rights of LGBTI individuals and issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics. Previous roles include Human Rights Officer at the Southern Africa Regional Office and the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity sector, as well as Associate Human Rights Officer for Business and Human Rights and the Haiti Desk. Prior to their tenure at the UN, Michael V. served as an External Consultant at the European Commission DG Development and held various positions at BSR and Oxfam. Michael V. began their career as an Associate Expert in Economic Development at the United Nations. Academic qualifications include a Master of Laws in Human Rights from the University of London and an MSc in Development Economics from SOAS, University of London, complemented by a BA in Politics, Economics, and Philosophy from the University of Oxford.
