Dewain Barber

Dewain Barber has extensive experience in the chess community, having served on the GM Arnold Denker Chess Committee and the Dewain Barber National Tournament of Middle School State Champions Committee with the US Chess Federation since August 1984. Barber worked as a consultant in the chess field from 2000 to 2019 and was an organizer with Scholastic Chess from 1974 to 2015. Additionally, Barber held a position with American Chess Equipment from September 1982 to March 2012 and was a teacher in the Buena Park Elementary School District from September 1968 to June 2000. Education includes a Master’s degree in History from Northern Arizona University and an Associate of Arts degree in American and World History from Phoenix College.
