Jonathan Chatman Jr. has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of network infrastructure and security. Jonathan currently works as a Cyber Security Architect at U.S. Cyber Command since November 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Network Infrastructure Branch Chief at the U.S. Census Bureau starting from July 2021. In 2017, they worked as a Network Security Engineer in the United States Army Reserve and as an IT Specialist (Infrastructure) at the U.S. Secret Service from January 2017 to July 2021. Before that, they served as a Signal Officer in the Army National Guard from September 2012 to September 2017, where they held various responsibilities such as being the principal advisor on signal functions and coordinating all signal actions. Jonathan also has experience as a Network Administrator in the U.S. Army from July 2012 to January 2017. Jonathan worked as a Network Analyst at CRGT Inc. from March 2012 to July 2012 and at Ciber from July 2011 to March 2012, where they were responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of local and wide-area networks. Early in their career, Jonathan served as a Chemical Operations Specialist in the U.S. Army from July 2001 to September 2008.
Jonathan Chatman Jr. completed their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Specific Applications from Northwestern State University from 2008 to 2011. In 2012, they obtained the Brocade Certified Network Engineer certification and the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician certification. In 2013, they obtained the CompTIA Network+ CE certification and the Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching certification. In 2014, they obtained the Managing Cisco Wireless LANs certification and the Managing Unified Access Networks with Cisco Prime Infrastructure (WMUAPI) certification. In 2015, they obtained the Implementing Cisco Unified Wireless Networking Essentials (IUWNE) certification. Jonathan continued to enhance their knowledge and skills by attaining the ITIL Foundation IT Service Management certification in 2013, the CompTIA Security+ CE certification in 2011, and the GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) from the SANS Institute in 2019. Most recently, in 2022, they pursued an Undergraduate Certificate in Cloud Operations and Security from Howard Community College. Jonathan has also obtained additional certifications such as the Cisco Certified Network Associate Wireless certification in 2016 and the Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner certification in 2023.
