Kara Watrous has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Starting in 2005, they served as a Network/Signals Intelligence Analyst/Reporter for the U.S. Air Force and NSA/CSS Georgia, where they analyzed significant events and authored reports. From 2008 to 2011, they worked as a Real-Time Regional Gateway Analyst/Trainer and Expeditionary Support Team Analyst for the U.S. Air Force and National Security Agency, providing intelligence support and coordinating with various agencies. In 2015, Kara joined CGI as a Cyber Intelligence Analyst, conducting malware analysis and identifying indicators of compromise. Kara also served as a Readiness Analyst, managing the Readiness Program and producing reports for senior leaders. In 2018, they joined United States Cyber Command as an IT Specialist. Currently, Kara is working as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, responsible for recruiting cleared engineers for Erias Ventures, LLC.
Kara Watrous has a strong educational background in the field of information technology and criminal justice. Kara earned a Master's Degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Informatics from the University of Maryland Global Campus between 2016 and 2017. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Forensics & Digital Investigations at Champlain College from 2012 to 2014. Kara also holds an Associate degree in Communications Application Technology, which they obtained from the Community College of the Air Force from 2004 to 2009. Furthermore, they attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University in 2009. In addition to their formal education, Kara has earned the Security+ certification from CompTIA in December 2015.
