Sean McCanna

Program Manager- Air Force Officer Acquisitions Officer at United States Cyber Command

Sean McCanna has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Sean started their career as an Aerospace Maintenance Journeyman at Air Force Special Operations Command in 2004. From 2007 to 2012, they worked as an Evaluator Flight Engineer at the 16 Airborne Command Control Squadron. Sean then joined the 89th Airlift Wing as an Instructor Flight Engineer from 2012 to 2016. In 2016, they transitioned to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center as a Program Manager for Air Force Small Business Enterprise Application Solutions until 2019. From 2019 to 2022, they served as the Aircraft Maintenance Director of Operations at Air Force Special Operations Command. Currently, they hold the position of Program Manager - Air Force Officer Acquisitions Officer at U.S. Cyber Command, starting in 2022. In 2021, they also served as the Commander at Special Operations Joint Task Force- Afghanistan (from February to August).

Sean McCanna has a diverse education history spanning various institutions and fields of study. Sean began their educational journey in 2007 at the Community College of the Air Force, where they pursued an Associate of Science degree in Airframe Mechanics and Aircraft Maintenance Technology/Technician. This program lasted until 2009.

In 2009, Sean attended the Airman Leadership School at Warner Robins, AFB, focusing on leadership development within the Air Force.

Following this, in 2010, they returned to the Community College of the Air Force and obtained an A.S. in Aviation Operations.

Sean went on to pursue additional certifications and specialized training. In 2010, they obtained the Gulfstream III Master Technician certification from FlightSafety International, and in 2012, they obtained the Gulfstream V Master Technician certification from the same institution.

In 2013, Sean enrolled in Strayer University, where they pursued and successfully completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Acquisition and Contract Management. This program lasted from 2013 to 2015.

Continuing their educational journey, Sean attended American Military University from 2019 to 2020, earning a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Organizational Leadership.

In 2021, they attended Squadron Officer School, focusing on Military and Strategic Leadership.

In addition to their formal education, Sean obtained several certifications, including the Acquisition Program Manager level I and II certifications from the Defense Acquisition University in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Sean also obtained the CPI Yellow Belt Certification from the United States Air Force in 2019. Furthermore, they completed the Air Force Maintenance and Logistics Officer Course-AMOC in 2020, also through the United States Air Force.
