Shannon Devine

Department Head, Communications And Political Action at United Steelworkers

Shannon Devine has an extensive work experience in the field of communications and political action. Shannon started their career as the Director of Communications for the Canadian Auto Workers union in 2007, where they led the modernization of their communications and developed robust membership communication programs. Shannon then joined Unifor National as the Director of Communications in 2013, where they led a team in developing a new identity for the union. Shannon later served as the Executive Director for the Ontario Federation of Labour, managing the transition and rebuilding effort of the federation. Shannon then joined Unifor National again as a Communications Officer. Most recently, Shannon worked for the United Steelworkers (USW) as the Department Head for Communications and Political Action, where they focused on strengthening equity initiatives within the union and providing strategic advice on various issues. Shannon also served as the Department Head for New Media and IT, leading the transition to remote work and organizing online training for staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, Shannon has demonstrated strong leadership, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills throughout their career.

Shannon Devine has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Women's Studies from Concordia University, which they completed from 2000 to 2004. Shannon also holds a Certificate in Project Management from Purdue University, which they obtained in 2019.
