Vp, Community Initiatives at United Way Of Central Alabama

Nichalaus Sims has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Nichalaus served as a City Council Member for the City of Homewood from November 2020 to the present. Prior to that, they held various roles at the United Way of Central Alabama, including VP of Community Initiatives and Community Planning, from June 2011 to September 2012. Nichalaus also worked as the Alabama State Coordinator for Action for Healthy Kids from August 2014 to October 2016. Additionally, they held the position of Program Director for Safe Routes to School at the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham from December 2012 to December 2014. Earlier in their career, they served as a Planner for the Jefferson County Commission from March 2008 to June 2011. Nichalaus began their career as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the Oregon Microenterprise Network from August 2002 to July 2005.

Nichalaus Sims pursued higher education at the University of South Alabama from 1997 to 2001. Nichalaus earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics during this period. Subsequently, they attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2005 to 2007, where they obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, specializing in Community Development and Planning.
