Gena Kukartsev

Gena Kukartsev is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at unitQ since September 2021, focusing on model development for natural language with expertise in transformer models. Previously, Gena served as Vice President of Machine Learning at Amira Learning from September 2019 to September 2021, where Gena established and led a high-performing team in building machine learning capabilities for a virtual reading assistant. Prior experience includes directing a team of data scientists at Renaissance Learning, managing educational technology initiatives, and creating an enterprise-level platform for student evaluations. Gena has held significant roles in research, including serving as Principal Research Scientist at Pearson North America and completing a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Brown University. Gena earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and holds both a BSc and MSc in Physics from Novosibirsk State University.
